Yosemite

January 2nd, 2005

We've wanted to go the Yosemite during the winter for as long as we could remember so we took the opportunity while we were at the cabin for 5 days. After the 2 hour drive, we got up to the Yosemite entrance and were denied entrance because we were required to carry chains even though we are an All-wheel vehicle. Of course, they sold them at the entrance for a gouging $70. Surprisingly, no one in Groveland sold them either, so we drove all the way back to Sonora to buy them at Wal-Mart for $25. Madeline had just about given up because by the time we would have gotten back to the National Park, it would be after 2pm, less than 3 hours of light if we were fortunate enough for the pending storm to hold off. Thankfully, Jimmy insisted and it was worth every effort. It's an amazingly serene feeling wandering through vastly large natural surroundings blanketed by pure white snow. Serenity found.
