Kauai - Sept. 29-30
We had to deem Thursday a Condo Day because I injured myself the day before in Waimea Canyon. Turned out to be quite a nice day, just kickin back and relaxing. We went out to the pool twice. Jimmy, Star and Ashley headed down to Hideaways Beach in the afternoon to do a little snorkeling. I certainly would not have been able to navigate those steep stairs with my gimpy leg. But I went to the pool, read a book, swam and waited for them to join me on their way back. We had a great bbq dinner afterwards, too.

The next day, I was feeling quite a lot better but still very sore so walking had to be kept to a mininum. After a little nosh at Mermaids and Bubba's, went to the Menehune Fishpond that our guide talked about during the ATV tour. We also found a geocache there! It was the first time Ashley and Star have joined us on a successful cache hunt. The rest of the day, we took some backroads to get as far up to Mt. Waialeale as possible. After all that driving, we enjoyed our 3rd and last Lapperts ice cream treat at the Coconut Grove Shopping Center in Kapa'a. We came back to the condo in time to watch the sunset from the point on the way down to Hideaways then had dinner in Hanalei accompanied by a surprise performance by some fire dancers.

Our last full day in Hawaii we relaxed beach and poolside. Went to the Maniniholo Dry Cave, where legend says the Menehune made their home, then spent some time at Ha'ena Beach with the intentions of more snorkeling, but the surf was too rough. We refreshed with smoothies before going home to hang out by the pool. We enjoyed tacos for our last dinner on the lanai. So sad to end the trip but it was absolutely amazing!
