Waimea Canyon
Dubbed by Mark Twain as the Grand Canyon of the Pacific, Waimea Canyon is breathtaking. Each layer represents a different eruption and subsequent lava flow. We were having a blast taking goofy photos the whole time until I tore a calf muscle in my left leg running up a hill at the red dirt waterfall. Not one to put a damper on our fun, I trudged along slowly and in pain, but still enjoying the views and hanging out with the family.
