Surrounding White House Area
March 26, 2005
On our last day, we had the morning together to explore the area near the White House. Jimmy found an amazing restaurant to have brunch, and while we did a bit of geocaching, we enjoyed the other historic sights along the way.

Historic or not, we took this in honor of Addie and Will ☺ |
So awesome to end the trip with a nice meal! We had a wonderful brunch here and it's quite a historic place! It was established in 1856 and many past Presidents ate here since it was so close to the White House. We split a fruit plate to start off with. I had Eggs Chesapeake and Jimmy had the Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes. |

First Division of the Army Monument "Winged Victory" tops the Monument which is in the President's Park, just west of the White House. The Old Executive Buildings are behind the monument.

Wonderful southern cuisine recommended to us by my friend Eve. We walked by here every day since it was near our hotel - a funny coincidence since she told us about it. We ate here Monday night with Eric. The best part of the evening was when the boys were 'scolded' by the hostess for not helping me with my jacket. She said to them "A gentleman always helps a lady with her coat". It was so funny because we're all just so used to putting our own coats on that none of us even gave it a thought to be helped or to help. It was just funny - that Southern hospitality mentality vs. California mentality. I definitely liked it and will use it to my advantage from now on. :) |
